NORTH SHORE

VISION: To emphasize retention of the region's scenic open spaces, coastal resources, and elements of the community's cultural and plantation heritage. The plan includes geographic boundaries and policies which support the role of diversified agriculture, and support commercial activity in the towns of Haleiwa and Waialua while retaining their historic and "country town" character.

NORTH SHORE SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITIES PLAN (adopted May 2011)
Plan updates were adopted in May 2011. While the Plan continues to emphasize retention of the region's scenic rural qualities, the updates include extension of the planning time frame from 2025 to 2035. It also adjusts the policies related to "country inns" and introduces an Implementation matrix that outlines how the Plan's policies and guidelines can be carried out. For more information, refer to Chapter 4 of the North Shore Sustainable Communities Plan Technical Report.
