Community Profiles report the demographic, economic and land use characteristics of Oahu communities.
They contain information and value-added data from the U.S. Census which can help understand and analyze community issues and aid planning. The profiles cover each of the eight Development Plan (DP) and Sustainable Communities Plan (SCP) areas, sub-areas within the DP or SCP areas, legislative districts, and Neighborhood Board areas.
The Department prepares Socio-Economic Projections (population, housing, visitor units, and jobs) for the eight Development Plan and Sustainable Communities Plan areas, sub-areas, and traffic analysis zones based on the State Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism's long-range projections of socio-economic conditions for the State and the four counties.
The current Department projections are to 2035. State projections to 2040 have been released, and the Department is preparing revised projections to 2040, based on the State projections.
The Department's Annual Report on the Status of Land Use on Oahu reports on population trends, housing construction activities, land use approvals, selected City infrastructure projects, and other trends pertaining to the eight Development Plan and Sustainable Communities Plan areas.
