Honolulu Land Information System

The City and County of Honolulu has developed one of the most comprehensive GIS data base for any municipality of its size. The Honolulu Land Information System (HoLIS) is an enterprise-wide system serving over 15 City Departments with land use, permit, tax, infrastructure, and environmental data. Geographically referenced information links existing City records to precise locations on the island of Oahu for spatial query and analysis.

The HoLIS provides a rich, full source of geographically referenced information. The GIS serves the public by collecting, maintaining, and distributing geo-referenced information necessary to support City operations. Now this information is also being made available to the public to promote its use for developing local business and marketing opportunities. HoLIS gives everyone a better source of geographic data.

A Data Rich Source of Information

There are currently over 80 different geographic data layers stored in the HoLIS spatial data base. Additional information continues to be added to an already comprehensive compilation of geographic data. These data allow for the development of an unlimited number of GIS applications and studies.
